The Brief
Cinema has always been more than just a place to watch a film, it's where stories, culture, and shared moments come to life. This brief challenged us to reimagine cinema for a new generation of South Africans by exploring how it can remain emotionally relevant in an ever-changing world.
The Task
Develop a fresh, film-led creative idea that reimagines why cinema still matters to young South Africans. The challenge was to create a 45–60 second commercial that reconnects 18–30-year-olds with the emotional experience of going to the cinema, not by focusing on blockbuster films or premium formats, but by celebrating the role cinema still plays in people's lives.
Rather than proving cinema is better, the objective was to express why it still has a meaningful place in today's culture, creating an idea that feels honest, relevant, and true to how young people connect, experience stories, and make memories.
The Big Idea
Return to Cinema.
Builds on a simple truth: while streaming is convenient, it's also full of interruptions. Notifications, ads, and everyday distractions constantly pull us out of the moment. The campaign reminds audiences that the cinema remains one of the few places where stories can be experienced the way they're meant to be, immersive, uninterrupted, and shared.

I collaborated on the execution of the final campaign film, supporting the winning team in bringing their idea to life through motion design, animation, and editing. The campaign concept and creative idea were developed by the Young Lions winning team.
